For travelers coming to Yosemite National Park from out-of-state or out-of-town, there are a number of airport options available for getting to Yosemite.
Each of these small regional airports is about an hour to an hour and a half from Yosemite by car (bear in mind that it takes about another hour once you reach Yosemite to get to Yosemite Valley). Many travelers to the park choose one of these Yosemite airports to fly into then rent a car or RV to complete the journey to Yosemite. Sometimes it can be more affordable to fly into a major airport when going on Yosemite vacations, especially if you're coming to the park from a long distance. Sure cuts a lot 4 torrent.
Each of these airports is connected to major hubs around the country, so flights are usually quite affordable. If you fly into one of these airports, you'll have to drive anywhere from five to eight hours (depending on traffic) to get to the park. However, the drive can be quite scenic and enjoyable for those who like car trips. Flying into one of these airports is also great if you'd like to see the Bay Area as well as Yosemite on your vacation.
These airports are both four to five hours away from Yosemite by car and Reno/Tahoe is only open during the summer months. On the plus side, if you can fly into the Reno/Tahoe International airport, you'll have an exceptionally beautiful drive to Yosemite National Park. Make sure to map out your journey ahead of time and have the contact information for your Yosemite accommodations when you travel.
If by chance you get lost along the way, your Yosemite lodging managers should be able to provide you with the directions you need to make it to Yosemite safe and sound. You'll also want to check where the closest gas stations are before beginning your journey.
